Leaked information suggests Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 will be the shortest season yet, and the reason behind this change seems obvious.
Chapter 6 Season 3 won’t arrive for several more weeks, with the next major content update slated for May 2, 2025.
Season 2 will have, thus, lasted for 71 days, roughly two weeks shy of the length of the chapter’s first season.
But there is reason to believe that developer Epic Games is gearing up for shorter chapters in the future. In fact, a leaker has claimed Season 3 will last about half as long as its immediate predecessor.
Fortnite’s next season may be themed after a major franchise
Reputable leaker Guille_GAG (via HYPEX) claims the upcoming third season will only run for 35 days, lasting from May 2 through June 8. Should this prove accurate, Season 3 will mark Fortnite’s shortest seasonal run to date.
Notably, this information comes just days after leaker NotJulesDev shared that Chapter 6 may last for six seasons, potentially making it the longest chapter since Chapter 2, which ended after eight seasons.
A rumored Star Wars-themed season could explain the shortened runtime. Since 2022, Fortnite has celebrated Star Wars Day (May 4) with new skins, in-game events, and more.
And the upcoming Staying Solo Quest Pack has sparked theories that Season 3 may be a Star Wars season similar to Marvel’s Absolute Doom theme for Chapter 5 Season 4.

As usual, it’s worth taking all of the above information, regardless of the sources, with a pinch of salt. At the time of writing, Epic Games has not confirmed what its developers have planned for Fortnite’s next seasonal update.
The current chapter’s Season 2 adventures are far from over after all, with more Mortal Kombat content on the way and new a crossover featuring The Walking Dead reportedly coming sometime in the near future.
