Fortnite players have been left frustrated by a growing change to the way it sells skins and other items, which they believe forces them to pay more for less.
Over the years, Fortnite has become increasingly more well-known for its crossovers with major franchises. In Chapter 6 Season 2 alone, we’ve already seen Mortal Kombat skins in the Battle Pass and a Cowboy Bebop collab.
Most crossover items are sold on the in-game store, but players are noticing a worrying trend that appears to give them less bang for their buck.
Fortnite players claim they’re being charged more for same items
As always, the Spike and Faye Cowboy Bepop skins were available individually or as part of a bundle. The bundle costs 3,400 V-Bucks and contains both skins as well as Back Blings, Pickaxes, and Emotes for both characters, while the standalone skins are 1,500 V-Bucks with no extras.
This means that if you only want one of the skins and their Back Bling and Pickaxe, it would cost 2,600. However, players pointed out that many individual skins used to include additional items for the same price, whereas now they’re sold as extras.
One Reddit user asked, “How greedy can epic be?” before using the Cowboy Bepop skins as an example.
“They charge 1500 V-bucks per skin and they put the Back Blings separately each costing 300 V-bucks,” said the OP. “I’ve noticed something with the dog skins recently, it looks like epic is trying to jack up the prices of bundles to make you think you’re getting a better deal.”
They aren’t the only ones who have noticed this trend, with plenty of other players responding to highlight how they’re being charged more for the same items.
“Skins that were 1800 used to include pickaxes and Back Bling, now you gotta pay 1800 for skin and Back Bling but no pickaxe,” said one reply. “Sh*t’s tragic.”
The feeling among players was that while breaking off items like Pickaxes and Back Blings is fine, as it gives them more freedom to only buy the things they want, the skins should be cheaper as a result.
“It’s an *amazing* idea to have the Back Bling as an optional purchase but the skin should be cheaper if so. Anime skins (with Back Blings) are 1500 so Spike and Faye should’ve been 1200 each,” added another reply.
However, as many replies mentioned, there are still plenty of players who will keep buying items from the store despite this change. So don’t be surprised to see more of it in the future.
