With spring in full swing, it’s the perfect time to refresh your reading list — but did you know you can get thousands of free e-books too with Stuff Your Kindle Day?
If you’ve spent any time on BookTok, you might have heard people talk about the event, which allows you to get hundreds, if not thousands of e-books for free on Amazon (or wherever else you get your e-books).
So here’s everything you need to know about Stuff Your Kindle Day, details on any upcoming events, and how you can find some great books for free in 2025.
What is Stuff Your Kindle Day?
Stuff Your Kindle Day was created in 2014 by romance author Zoe York, who has been working with self-published authors to make their books free to buy for all readers for one day.
While it started with only Amazon making their e-books free, it’s now grown to include other e-readers and e-book stores, including the Kobo store, Barnes & Noble, the Apple Book store, and Google Play.
Although it might sound too good to be true, the indie romance event has been going on for almost a decade, encouraging authors to make their books free for one day to promote their work while also benefiting readers who get to stock up on literature.
While York’s Stuff Your Kindle Day is primarily for romance titles, some non-fiction (and non-romance) titles are also included. So, whatever genre you tend to lean towards, you’re bound to find at least one new read.

When is the next Stuff Your Kindle Day in 2025?
While York hasn’t revealed the next dates for her Stuff Your Kindle event, several other Stuff Your Kindle dates have been announced by different organizations and publishers for 2025. Will there be any bestsellers available?

However, organizer Zoe York, who is a best-selling romance author, does make her own books free on the day of her Stuff Your Kindle days — so you’ll never know what other authors might decide to participate.
Have any books already been made available for free?
Although Stuff Your Kindle Days only last for 24 hours, some authors decide to make their books free a few days before the actual event and keep the promotion going a few days longer.
