A technology student is being mocked on Chinese social media for setting his dorm on fire while trying to hide his “inflatable girlfriend” when his roommate returned early.

Being caught with your pants down is one thing, but one student couldn’t stand the thought of being caught with an inflatable doll that he decided to set fire to it.

According to the South China Morning Post, on February 10, a student enrolled at China’s Hefei University of Technology was thrown into a panic after his roommate returned unexpectedly.

Rushing into the hallway, the student tried to burn the doll, but ended up triggering the campus fire alarm, filling the dormitory with flames and smoke.

While no one was harmed in the blaze, the student was disciplined and faced the wrath of the internet for the embarrassing, viral ordeal.

Once the fire broke out, a security guard at the university called the fire department to deal with the blaze.

“There were no property losses or casualties, and we have already communicated with the student involved,” school staff revealed.

Furthermore, Hefei University of Technology issued a statement telling students not to set fire to silicone items in the school.

“Please do not use open flames to handle silicone items or other flammable materials in the building. Items that are no longer needed can be disposed of in the rubbish bin,” the university said in an announcement.

The student has faced an endless wave of mockery following the fire and its humiliating origins.

“What was supposed to be known only by his roommate is now known by the whole internet,” one said.

“Is this something a college student would do? I do not understand how his brain works,” blasted another. “Not only does burning plastic produce a pungent odor, it is also difficult to be disposed of.”

This isn’t the first time a fire has had major consequences. Last year, a Finnish Kick streamer was arrested after setting his own couch ablaze several times during a live broadcast.
