Ibai has shaken up the all-time Twitch viewership records with La Velada del Año 5, setting a new record on Twitch. Here’s how he stacks up against the livestream viewership records for Twitch YouTube, and Kick.

January 11, 2021, was a historic day for Twitch, as Spanish streaming sensation David ‘TheGrefg’ Cánovas Martínez shattered the record for most concurrent viewers, when he revealed his Fortnite skin. He reached another top three Twitch record on January 29, 2023, peaking at over 1.7 million for his streamer awards.

However, on June 25, 2022, another Spanish streamer, Ibai, destroyed that record, reaching over 3 million live viewers to watch his second boxing event. Over on YouTube, Casimiro set the record there, with over 6 million viewers, thanks to football streams.

When Ibai’s event returned in 2023, he once again beat his own record, with La Velada del Año 3 reaching over 3.4 million concurrent viewers. Ibai was at it again in 2024, this time breaking his own records with Velada del Año 4. French streamer Squeezie is third on Twitch now, with 1.3 million for his racing event.

North American streamers still make up the bulk of this list, but non-English speaking streams are growing rapidly on Twitch and YouTube. Expect to see more streamers from other regions fight for a place among the most-viewed streams ever.

Ibai drew in over 3 million viewers during his La Velada Del Año II event. He beat his own record in 2023 and again in 2024.

But his La Velada Del Año 5 event has reached even greater heights, completely obliterating any prior record.

In second place is fellow Spaniard, TheGrefg. He was revealing his new Fortnite skin at the time, attracting viewers around the world. As the stream starting hitting record numbers, more people joined just to be part of the frenzy.

This list, via Twitch Tracker, includes streams from companies, rather than just individual creators.

Note: Deleted livestreams and video previews are not counted in this list.

SpaceX previously held the record for the most viewed livestream on either YouTube or Twitch, with a launch of a test flight into space, showing the view inside the cockpit, on May 27, 2020.

But, this record was beaten not once, but twice, during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Brazilian streamer and journalist Casimiro did watch alongs of matches, and broke the record during the Brazil vs Croatia match, with 6.1 million live viewers.

He dominates the list now too, thanks to his livestreams from Euro 2024 and the Paris Olympics. Notably, his livestream of Women’s Volleyball between USA and Brazil peaked at over 2.5 million viewers.

The overall record for a YouTube livestream though is now over 8 million concurrent viewers, by the Indian Space Research Organisation, for their Chandrayaan-3 mission landing stream.

The Sidemen Charity Match in both 2022 and 2023 reached a peak viewership of 2.5 million. There’s no doubt the 2025 event, their biggest yet, is sure to break records too. However, their 2.5 million is not quite enough now to be in the top 20, instead sitting at 21st.

Kick viewership records

Over on Kick, a newer player in the livestreaming platform wars, big streams have also pulled in impressive peak viewership numbers.

Currently, though, only one streamer on Kick has cracked the 1 million concurrent viewers mark – Colombian streamer WestCol.

He also took the crown of most-followed on Kick from Adin Ross, who is not only massively popular, but also closely associated to Kick and its ties with Stake, the gambling website.

These are the most viewed Kick streams of all time, by peak viewership. However, some of these streams are flagged by stats site StreamsCharts as potentially viewbotted.

  1. WestCol: 1,417,574
  2. Mellstroy271: 720,592
  3. moises: 701,445 (Suspected viewbotting)
  4. sxb: 690,753
  5. luquitarodriguez: 671,753
  6. ilyaselmaliki: 601,000
  7. AdinRoss: 583,694
  8. crazytawn: 525,962 (Suspected viewbotting)
  9. revo-vrc: 344,418 (Suspected viewbotting)
  10. numeiro: 300,692 (Suspected viewbotting)
  11. syrialive: 261,108 (Suspected viewbotting)
  12. spreen: 248,609
  13. mernuel: 241,646
  14. lordbroo: 239,948 (Suspected viewbotting)
  15. ibrahimalshref: 238,791 (Suspected viewbotting)
  16. carldo: 232,299 (Suspected viewbotting)
  17. sam: 216,685 (Suspected viewbotting)
  18. japczan: 214,634 (Suspected viewbotting)
  19. thegrefg: 214,222
  20. coscu: 213,920 (Suspected viewbotting)

Clearly, this list demonstrates the scale of the problem when it comes to viewbots on Kick. Although viewbotting is common on all streaming platforms, Kick’s top streams generally feature suspicious viewership activity.

When Ninja set the Twitch record by playing Fortnite with Drake and Travis Scott, it immediately elevated the streaming space more widely, paving the way for more records to be set. Now, Drake is still appearing in high-profile streams and even setting viewership records on his own account.

We’ll keep you updated when new records are set and these rankings change, but Ibai has secured his spot at number one on Twitch for a long time to come.
