Many suspected she’d be coming to the game, and it’s finally been confirmed, with Aurora now added to Disney Dreamlight Valley through the Storybook Vale Unwritten Realm update, but you’ll need to unlock her.
Tons of characters are being regularly added to Disney Dreamlight Valley thanks to its updates. Recently, we’ve had Peter Pan, Alice, and the Cheshire Cat. This time it’s Maleficent and Aurora, otherwise known as Sleeping Beauty.
So, if you have the expansion and are looking to unlock Aurora, here’s all you need to know.
How to unlock Aurora
Complete the Storybook Vale main quests
The main storyline of Storybook Vale has you attempting to get Hades and Maleficent to see the error of their ways. Hades is pretty easy to help, but Maleficent requires you to reach her castle in order to speak with her. It’s then that she’ll allow you to uncover Aurora.
This is only done through the main quest. If you’ve already completed this in the first part of the storyline, then skip to the next step. If not, check out our guide for all the main quests in Storybook Vale.
Unlock Maleficent
After completing the main story quests, your task is far from complete. You’ll need to unlock Maleficent before you get the quests to find Aurora.
You can find out how to unlock Maleficent in our guide.
The Missing Princess
You’ll have to have reached at least friendship level seven with Flynn Rider before you can go that far with The Missing Princess.
Once you have, speak to him and he’ll offer help in finding where she is. Unfortunately, since the curse he’s not able to remember much. Which is why you need to reach friendship level seven. Shortly after, you’ll be able to speak to him and he’ll instruct you to dig up and open three pages of Aurora’s Diary.
These are in the following locations:
- Near a waterfall on the west side of the Bind.
- Near a beanstalk root by Maleficent’s castle.
- By some water in the Elysian Fields.
You’ll need to dig up the pages and interact with them. When you do, speak to Flynn who will explain that Aurora wanted to speak to the Lorekeeper, but never appeared after that.
A Hero of Ink and Paper
Once you’re done with the Missing Princess quest, you’ll start A Hero of Ink and Paper by speaking to the Lorekeeper. Interact with the tapestry behind her. Your first attempt to enter will fail. You need to prove you’re a real hero.
Find Aurora’s notes in the Bind

Go to the Bind and head under the main bridge near the center of the biome. Look for the hidden chamber you unlocked earlier in the story. Inside, pick up the note from Aurora on the floor.
Fairy Tale book pieces location
You now need to find two pieces of the Fairy Tale Book.
- The first is in the Fallen Fortress, near the Fairy Tale Trial gate. Look in the left-side ruins for a blue-green book on the ground.
- The second is in Mythopia, at Mount Olympus. Use the wishing well, then go west toward the windmills. Climb the ramps and grab the second book in the alcove.
Bring both book pieces to the Lorekeeper. She’ll summarize them and reveal the truth: to be a hero, you need to look the part.
Talk to villagers for clothing scraps
Speak to the following villagers to gather outfit pieces:
- Merida
- Flynn
- Hades
- Maleficent
Each will give you a clothing scrap for the outfit.
Craft the Hero of the Vale outfit
You’ll need these materials:
- 4 Yellow Tale Cone Flowers: Found in the Bind.
- 4 Blue Tale Cone Flowers: Found in the Bind.
- 4 Olive Green Tale Cone Flowers: Found in the Bind.
- 4 Beige Tale Cone Flowers: Found in the Bind.
- 10 Posidonia: Caught in the waters of Mythopia, no ripples.
- 4 Blue Bird Snippets: Found in the Bind.
- 4 Red Demon Snippets: Found in The Statue’s Shadow.
- 4 Green Frog Snippets: Found in The Wild Woods and Teapot Falls.
Use a crafting station (like the one in your Storybook Vale house) to make the Hero of the Vale costume. Then bring it back to the Lorekeeper.

Put on the Hero outfit and interact with the tapestry again. This time, it lets you through. You’ll unlock the next quest: The Ink Stained World.
The Ink Stained World
Enter the new room and interact with the stained glass window. This begins the Trial of Virtue, where you must restore two key elements: a dragon’s flame and a knight’s arms.
The Trial of Virtue
Enter the new room and interact with the stained glass window. This begins the Trial of Virtue, where you must restore two key elements: a dragon’s flame and a knight’s arms. Here, follow these steps:
- Look to the right side of the room and pick up the dragon’s flame

- Place it on the Dragon.
- On the left side, look for a bookshelf up against a doorframe. Interact with it.

- Grab the knight’s arm and place it on the Knight.
Open furniture mode and arrange the elements so that the knight’s shield blocks the dragon’s flame. Make sure the dragon is placed close enough for the alignment to register correctly. We suggest moving it to meet the shield, then moving the dragon back a few blocks. Try to match it with the image below. It can be a little fiddly.

After solving the scene, collect the Shield of Virtue from the top of the room. Bring it to Merryweather nearby to finish this trial.
The Trial of Truth
Go back to the main room and enter the next chamber directly across from the first. Talk to the stained glass to start the Trial of Truth.
Use furniture mode to make the shadows less scary:
- Place the birdcage over the bird shadow
- Put Mickey Mouse ears on the lion statue

This softens both shadows so the critters feel safe.
What is the right meal for Pegasus and the Rabbit?
Find the cooking station on the left side of the room and cook:
- Barley Salad for the rabbit using enchanted carrot, wheat, and barley
- Carrot Salad for the Pegasus using enchanted carrot, tomato, cucumber, and lettuce
Then, feed each creature their meal to get the Sword of Truth from the center of the room and bring it to Flora nearby to complete this trial.
The Trial of Song
Go to the final chamber at the bottom of the main room. Talk to the stained glass to begin the Trial of Song.
Use the top of the stairs to move the dancers, then open furniture mode to position the instruments.
Correct placement:
- Left side: Piano, Dancer, Cello
- Right side: Harp, Dancer, Lute

Make sure one dancer is between the lute and harp. Then, Collect the Cap of Song and hand it over to Flora to finish the final trial.
The next step is to put on the Cap of Song, the Sword of Truth, and Shield of Virtue. Head upstairs in Storybook Castle and enter the tower to start the next quest: Tales That Bind.
The Tales that Bind
You’ll begin The Tales That Bind by speaking to Aurora, who’s now in the Storybook Vale. After a quick chat, she’ll send you through a portal to explore the Unwritten Realms.
Once inside the portal, head upstairs and find the Lorekeeper. You’ll need to speak to her before the next objective begins.
Catch the Snippets
You’ll spot three glowing snippets darting around. Chase and catch all three. They zip around fast, so stay on them. Once you’ve got them, return to Aurora, who, as always, lets you do all the work.
Another portal appears. Go upstairs and downstairs, then speak to the Lorekeeper again.
Catch the Rainbow Frog Snippets
Now you’re chasing rainbow-colored frog snippets. Catch three of them as they hop around. If one doesn’t spawn right away, wait a moment. The second often appears after you grab the first.
Another portal, another stairway sprint. Head through, then talk to the Lorekeeper once again.
Catch the Evil Demon Snippets
Only two snippets this time, but they’re extra slippery. These demon snippets fly fast and take a few tries to catch. Stick with it. Once both are caught, continue through the next portal.
The Story of Dreamlight Valley tapestry solution
Go down the stairs on the left and talk to the Lorekeeper. She’ll ask you to assemble a tapestry called The Story of Dreamlight Valley. Its pieces and solved puzzle are below:

Once completed, the Dreamlight Valley story unlocks.
Talk to the Lorekeeper again. Then, place Aurora’s house in the Vale using the Scrooge McDuck sign. It costs 5,000 gold. Welcome Aurora, to your Valley, and speak to her one last time to complete the quest. With that, she’s added to the Valley.
Friendship Level 2 quest: The Family Recipe
Speak to Aurora, Merida & Flynn
Once you reach level 2 with Aurora, she’ll explain that she wants to plan a celebration for all the villagers; naturally, she needs you to help out.
Head to Merida’s house and listen to her and Flynn argue about a banner. Then, you’ll need to speak to the two of them and come to an agreement that the banner is about Aurora, not them.
Shortly after, you’ll need to craft the banner itself, using the following ingredients:
- 10 Petrified Wood: Found mining nodes in The Bind.
- 10 Marble: Found mining nodes in Mythopia.
- 10 Posidonia: Fish in open water in Mythopia.
With those in hand, head back to Flynn and Merida to check in on their progress (argument). They’ll be arguing about whether the banner should be pink or blue. You’ll end up convincing them for both.

They’ll offer you some dye, so you can head back to the crafting table and create the banners. Do this, and place them down in your Valley.
Make the celebration cake
With that done, speak to Aurora, who will ask for your help in finding the ingredients for her cake:
- 12 Shovel Bird Eggs: Purchased from Goofy’s stall in The Bind for 160 Star Coins each (1,920)
- 5 Porcini Mushrooms: Foraged in Everafter.
- 5 Lightning: Foraged in Mythopia.

Offer those to Aurora, who will bake the cake. She’ll thank you and ask you to speak to Flynn about seating arrangements.
When you speak to Flynn, he’ll reveal that he’s tried some of the cake and that it was disgusting (who’d have thought). It’s up to you to distract Aurora so he can steal the cake to ensure no one else tries it.
So, go strawberry picking in Everafter with Aurora and then speak to Flynn. Unfortunately, Aurora has discovered the theft, leading to a pretty awkward conversation.
Remake the cake
After Aurora agrees that the cake is terrible, you’ll need to head to Remy to make a better cake. After speaking to him, you’ll need to collect the following ingredients:
- 1 Milk: Bought at Remy’s restaurant (230 Star Coins).
- Elysian Grain: Found at Goofy’s Stall in Mythopia.
- Spiral Strawberries: Foraged in Everafter.
- Faerie Rye: Found at Goofy’s Stall in Everafter.

With all of those, head to a cooking pot and craft Aurora’s Improved Cake. Then, head back to Aurora and give her the Cake. Finally, the celebration will be complete. Simply take a photo, speak to Aurora, and you’ll be done.
Friendship Level 4 quest: Redeeming Literature
Find a book
Once you’ve reached level four with Aurora, she’ll explain that she’s a little worried for the Lorekeeper, who seems to be feeling a little sad after attempting to kick you out of Dreamlight Valley and nearly erasing loads of characters (who’d have thought).
To help cheer them up, she’ll ask you to speak with them. They’ll explain that they’re sad, prompting you to chat with Aurora again. She’ll suggest that you find a book for the Lorekeeper to tell them a tale of redemption.
This can be found in the West Wing of the Library of Lore (left side), tucked behind some bookshelves. However, instead of a book, you’ll find some clues as to who has what you need.
Repair the book with Artisanal Book Glue
Predictably, Stitch has the book, but it seems to have gotten quite destroyed. Speak to him, then chat with Belle to figure out how to fix it.
To fix it, you’ll need to uncover some Artisanal Book Glue, which can be found at the foot of Mount Olympus in the water.

Head to Mount Olympus and look for a golden ripple. Fish in there and you’ll have the Artisanal Book Glue. All that’s left to do is head to a crafting table and fix the Improvised Adventure Book.
For that, you’ll need the following:
- 3 Olive Green Tale Cone Flowers: Found in The Bind.
- 5 Lightning Spice: Found on the ground in Mythopia.
- 5 Magma: Mined from nodes in Mythopia.
- 1 Artisanal Book Glue
- 1 Damaged Library Book

Hand the book to Aurora and add an inscription. Then, go over to the Lorekeeper with Aurora and watch as she tells the story.
Naturally, the Lorekeeper will still feel a little down, but it’ll help them feel there’s room for redemption. Then, simply speak to Aurora, and the quest will be over.
Friendship Level 7 quest: The Princess Tour
Speak with Jasmine
Aurora will ask you if you’re up for a Princess day, making you an honorary Princess (or Prince) as you go through other villagers to hang out. The first is Jasmine, so you’ll need to speak to her.
She’ll explain that she’s missing Rajah, her tiger, to which Aurora offers to bring some of the Vale’s animals so they can have a concert to cheer her up.
For this, you’ll need to make two Aphrodite’s Delights using the following ingredients:
- 2 Golden Apples: Brought at Goofy’s Stall in Mythopia for 220 Star Coins.
- 2 Ambrosia: Brought at Goofy’s Stall in Mythopia for 140 Star Coins.

Then, head to your cooking pot and make two Aphrodite’s Delights. With that, offer it to Aurora, head to her home, and watch her perform her concert.
Speak with Tiana
Once you’ve finished Jasmine’s storyline, head over to Tiana and Belle, who will ask you to help them with their scrapbook.
For that, you need to take photos in the following locations:
- Jasmine’s House.
- A waterfall in the Wild Woods of the Everafter.
- A critter from Mythopia.
As a note, if you placed Jasmine’s house in Dreamlight Valley, you’ll need to head over there for the photo.
Once you’ve taken them, head back to Tiana, and the three will thank you for your help.
Speak to Merida and Mulan
The next step has you speaking with Merida and Mulan. Chat with Mulan and she’ll explain that the two of them were training and invite you to join them.
However, you need to look the part, so head to your Wardrobe and equip your Fairytale Armor. Then, head over to the Knights’ Trial in the Fallen Fortress.
Once inside, head through the hall and to the left. Then, speak with Mulan and break the rocks with your pickaxe.
All you need to do outside of this is speak to the three Princesses, and that part is complete.
Craft Aurora’s Princess Party Banner
The final thing to do is to have a Princess party (of course). For that, you’ll need your very own Princess Party Banner, using the following ingredients:
- 10 Petrified Wood: Found in mining nodes in The Bind.
- 5 Pine Cones: Near large trees in The Bind.
- 10 Marble: Found in mining nodes in Mythopia.
- 2 Opal: Found in mining nodes in The Bind.
- 2 Star Sapphire: Found in mining nodes in Mythopia.

Once you have the ingredients, head over to your crafting table and make the Banner. Then, simply place it down, take a photo, and the quest is complete.
Friendship Level 10 quest: Dreams And Dark Designs
Aurora’s quest kicks off by checking in with Flynn and Merida to hear about their sleep issues. After these two villagers spill the tea on their sleep troubles, head to Aurora and update her.
How to craft a Dream Spinner
You’ll need to gather some Star Sapphires, Volcanic Rock, Petrified Wood, and Dream Threads from the Sacred Spring.
- 4 Star Sapphire: Found roaming around the Wilds or Ever After area.
- 10 Volcanic Rock: Drops randomly when digging, mostly in the Fiery Plains or near Mount Olympus. It’s a bit rare, so bring a digging buddy for bonus chances.
- 20 Petrified Wood: Mned anywhere in the Wilds or the Bind.
- 1 Dream Threads: Interact with a glowing yellow marker at the Sacred Spring.

Once you’ve got your materials, head to your crafting station and build the Dream Spinner under Functional Items. When crafted, pop back to Aurora’s house and hand over the spinner.
How to make Warm Spiced Milk
Remy will ask for this cozy drink. Gather the following ingredients and cook it at your cooking station.
- 2 Milk: Purchase from Chez Remy.
- 2 Nutmeg: Grows on Nutmeg Trees in Mythopia.
- 2 Ambrosia: Buy at Goofy’s Stall in Mythopia.
- 2 Empty Vial: Craft from 3 Glass.

Deliver the milk to Aurora and then interact with the Dream Spinner. It’ll unlock a memory fragment.
Dream Image location
Fast travel to the top of Mount Olympus, and you’ll find a rift. Just interact with it to collect another memory fragment.

The next step is to report back to the Lore Keeper and Aurora. You’ll discover Maleficent and Hades are plotting something shady. Talk to them to wrap up the quest.
That’s how to complete Aurora in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Be sure to check out a full recipes list, our guides on gems and fish, or even the current Star Path.
