As part of the Wonderland Whimsy update in Disney Dreamlight Valley, Alice in Wonderland’s very own Alice is finally able to join the Valley.
Whether you’ve caught up with the latest Storybook expansion, or are working on unlocking Oswald in A Rift in Time’s storyline – warning, it’s long – it’s always important to grab the latest character in Disney Dreamlight Valley, or even Jasmine and Aladdin if you’re still working on the previous update. After all, they offer new quests, challenges, furniture, and rewards.
Due to the Alice in Wonderland-themed Disney Dreamlight Valley update, Alice and the Cheshire Cat are coming to the Valley. While you can’t unlock the Cheshire Cat instantly (that’s available on May 7), here’s all you need to know about how to get Alice into your Valley.
How to unlock Alice
Open the realm
Alice is hidden in the Alice in Wonderland Realm, which can be found on the top floor of the Dreamlight Castle.
You’ll need 15,000 Dreamlight to unlock the Realm. Once you do, head up there, interact with the door, and access the new realm.

Wonders of Wonderland
Chase the White Rabbit
Once you open the door, it’ll shrink and out will pop a familiar white rabbit. Once the cutscene is over, speak to Merlin and chase the rabbit.
Follow it through the Plaza, Peaceful Meadow, and back up to just west of the Forest of Valor. Here it’ll lead you to a small tunnel, disappear, and drop a small pocketwatch. Interact with it and climb into the tunnel to enter the realm.
Find Alice
Once you enter the realm, head straight on until you get to the first circular pond. To the left will be Alice. Interact with her and she’ll explain that she’s off to see the Queen of Hearts and asks you to join her adventure.
Related
Naturally, you say yes and follow her, but she quickly vanishes. When she does, look at the footprints and head to the red tree to speak to the Cheshire Cat.
Find the Cheshire Cat’s smiles
He’ll explain that you’re lost and that you need to find his smiles dotted around the realm. We found all of ours around the outside of the region, so stick to the outer ponds and keep an eye on rocks, trees, and other flat surfaces.
We found one on a smaller red tree, one on a rock, and the last in a bush. All of which were on the outer rings of the realm. Once you’ve collected them, head back the the Cheshire Cat, who will be in the same tree you just spoke to him at.
Make More Time
He’ll explain that, apparently, the task was timed, and you’ve run out of time. However, you can make more by cooking More Time.
To do that, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- Wonderland Salt
- Wonderland Sugar
- More Wonderland Sugare
- Tea Leaves
- Butter
- Jam
- Lemon
However, to get all of those, you need to interact with odd-looking features around the realm. Look for brighter pink bushes, logs, and stone, and interact with them.

They’ll drop chests, most of which will give you the ingredients, though you may find a purple key or some outfits and furniture.
When you have all the ingredients, chat with the Cheshire Cat and head over to where you entered the realm. Look for the cooking pot and cook up a Spicy Moment and a Sweet Moment. Both will be at the top of your recipes when you enter the pot.
Then, combine those with the pocket watch and craft ‘More Time.’ Then, eat it and head back to the Cheshire Cat.
Find Alice again
He’ll congratulate you and tell you to follow the Mome Rath arrows. These are the small patches of colorful flowers on the ground near the paths.
Seek one out, and they’ll reform into an arrow. Follow the arrow, enter the portal in the tree, and you’ll complete this quest and find a new region in the Realm.

The Queen’s Maze
Once you enter the new region, you’ll quickly discover that this is the Queen’s Maze. You’ll need to navigate it and find various levers to open doors and eventually get you to Alice.
We suggest exploring the safer routes, away from the Card Guards. The yellow circles that follow them are their sight. Avoid them at all costs.
You’ll eventually come across a closed door, and just beside that is a lever. Avoid the guard and activate it. Then run through.

Next, look for the shrinking hedge; inside that is another lever. Activate that and head onwards.
Then, keep looking for levers, usually hidden behind small walls. The Guards and shrinking hedges are a good indicator that a lever is nearby. Once you’ve gone far enough, you’ll be able to exit the maze and meet a very small and very frustrated Alice.
Teeny, Tiny Problems
Speak to Alice
Speak to Alice and she’ll explain that she’s been turned small after looking at a small bottle of perfume. You’ll need to return to the original Wonderland Realm and speak to the Cheshire Cat again to help find a way to reverse the shrinking.
To do so, interact with the mushroom behind you and head back into the realm. Once there, find the Cheshire Cat’s tree and speak to him.
Craft Contrary Perfume
He’ll explain that you need a Contrary Perfume and will list the ingredients for you, though they’re in riddles. You need to do the following:
- Fish for “a jar of hearts” in the entrance to the Alice in Wonderland Realm.
- Talk to the matriarch of the Singing Flowers in the middle of the Wonderland forest.
- Find a mushroom who’s feeling blue.
- Find the curious Pencil Bird.
The Jar of Hearts will be found at the beginning, where you initially entered the Realm. Head back to that first location and look in the pond; there will be golden ripples. Cast your line and fish up the item.
For the Singing Flowers, you’ll want to head to the middle of the forest and look for a large orange flower surrounded by three smaller ones. Speak to her. Once you do, water the smaller plants with your watering can and grab the seeds.
The Blue Mushroom is a little tricky. You’ll find it back in the entrance, where you fished up the Jar of Hearts. While heading there, wear something blue to cheer it up. When you get there, interact with the big blue mushroom, and you’ll get the item.
The Curious Pencil Bird is just outside the entrance. Interact with him and select the following answers to his questions:
- 6
- White Rabbit
- An Unbirthday
- 17
- 5
If you get them all right, you’ll get the final ingredient. Then turn around, head to the crafting table in the entrance, and make the Contrary Perfume.

Help Alice
Once you’ve crafted the Perfume, head back to the Queen of Hearts’ Garden and give the item to Alice. She’ll grow to her normal size and show you exactly why she’s there.
She’s there to help save the trapped animals, but the keys have gone missing. They’re somewhere on the Tea Table.
Find the keys
Head over to the table and interact with it to use the Contrary Perfume. Then, simply snap a picture of the table with your phone and climb up the nearby plates until you reach the Perfume bottle.
Interact with the Perfume bottle so you can return to the right size at will. Return to your size and speak to Alice, who will explain that you need some help getting around. To do this, you need to find Dice, Cards, and Marbles.
The Dice are found in the encove opposite the tea party table, by an unpainted rose tree (we’ll get to that soon). The cards are by the table itself, and the marbles are in another encove, diagonal to where you found the cards.
When you have them all, head to the table and place the items down. Then interact with the table again and shrink down.
Get all four keys
You’ll need to find four keys to free the animals. For this, you’ll want to follow the steps below:
- Head straight on up the cards and interact with the Cheshire Cat Joker card.
- Follow the route and knock over the next card.
- Go to the right and use your Pickaxe on the cracked pot to flood the cup.
- Fish out the key.

- From there, turn around and go back down to the table.
- Head through the Four of Hearts card until you see Sugarcubes.
- Water the Sugarcubes with your Watering Can and grab the key.

- From there, Head over to the cupcake and through the Six of Spades and 5 of Hearts cards.
- Then climb up the spoon and go left.
- Follow along until you see a cupcake.
- Use your shovel and grab the key.

- Head down to the table and go past the Sugarcubes.
- In front of you, along a ramp with the 6 of Spades, will be the final key.

Free the animals
With that, head back off the table and make yourself big. Then go to Alice, and she’ll unlock the animals from their cages.
Though their leaving made quite the mess, so it’s up to you and Alice to ensure the Queen of Hearts never sees you.
Leaving Wonderland
Clean the Queen of Hearts’ garden
You’ll need to paint the white roses red (unsurprising, really, given the original story), so open your inventory and find the Pot of Red Paint. Then, interact with it and put it on your Watering Can. All you need to do after this is find the five trees and water them. They’re all nearby, so finding them shouldn’t be too tricky.

Next, you’ll need to remove the burrows. Use your shovel on the mounds and clear them. Lastly, stamp out the broken plates by the table, just interact with them, and your time in the Queen of Hearts’ garden is nearly done.
All you need to do is speak to Alice and invite her into the Valley.
Head into Wonderland
You’ll need to meet Alice in Wonderland (Pun not entirely intended), so head over to the giant mushroom and interact with it again.
Then, go to the entrance, where you originally landed, and speak to Alice. She’ll take you over to the Cheshire Cat, who will give you a riddle to solve in order to open the door to escape.
Solve the Glowing Mushroom puzzle
If you want to try and complete this puzzle on your own, then we recommend listening carefully to what Alice and the Cheshire Cat discuss. The clues are as follows:
- The colors correspond to a certain pair of characters.
If you want the answer, then you’ll need to press the colors that link to Alice (blue) and the Cheshire Cat (Pink). Press the blue and pink mushrooms, and the door will appear.

All that’s left to do is water it to make it bigger and head inside.
Welcome Alice to the Valley
With you now free of Wonderland, you need to build Alice a home. Go to the Valley, place down her house from your build menu, and craft it for 5,000 Star Coins.
Then, you’ll welcome Alice to the Valley!
Level 2 Friendship quest: Books with No Pictures
In her first Friendship quest, Alice wants to befriend Vanellope through the power of books. First, speak to Vanellope and head inside the Dreamlight Library so they can meet up. Now, it’s time to find some words to craft poetry.
Find Magical Nouns
You’ll need to find three Magical Nouns in the ponds of the Peaceful Meadow. The area has two small ponds near Goofy’s Stall and a larger one next to Dazzle Beach.
Look for golden ripples with sparkles floating above them to get the Magical Nouns. When you’ve got them all, report to Alice.
Find Magical Verbs
The Magical Verbs are hiding inside bunnies. To find them, head to the Plaza and chase any you can find to the Dream Castle.
Here, you’ll have to chase and catch three bunnies by pressing E in every floor of the Dream Castle. When ready, report to Alice again.
Find Magical Adjectives
The Magical Adjectives can be found in certain bushes. I found my first bush with Magical Adjectives in Dazzle Beach, but there were others in the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow.
Unfortunately, someone’s been stealing them and it’s up to you to figure out who’s the culprit. Speak to Remy and he’ll reveal he’s the culprit, but we can’t blame him, really. Grab the Magical Adjectives from Remy and report to Alice.
Craft a Literary Pop-Up Book

After composing a poem and reading it to Merlin, Alice is sure she wants to share her poetry time with Vanellope. But she can’t just show up to her Candy Kingdom house and recite it just like that. She wants you to craft a Literary Pop-Up Book and decorate a room to set the mood.
To craft a Literary Pop-Up Book, you’ll need the following:
- 4 Sunflowers: Found in Dazzle Beach
- 5 Pink Hydrangea: Found in Dazzle Beach
- 9 Softwood: Found in the Valley
12 Fiber: Made from Seawood, which can be fished in Dazzle Beach while aiming outside of the ripples.
Once crafted, decorate a room in your house with it and some furniture, and she’ll be ready to read the poem to Vanellope.
Level 4 Friendship quest: Mimsy Were the Borogoves
In this quest, Alice needs your help remembering a poem she composed before the Forgetting.
Where’s “a place of sunbaked pleasure”?

The place of sunbaked pleasure is Dazzle Beach. Look for a bottle buried under a dig spot near the southwest corner of Dazzle Beach. Here, you’ll find a Poem in a Bottle; give it back to Alice to continue the quest.
Where’s a “dark cavern with mystic lights”?
The dark cavern with mystic lights is the Mystical Cave in Dazzle Beach. Head inside and speak with Alice. Then, use your watering can to water the false Mome Raths on every level until you reach the bottom of the cave.
Here, Alice will ask that you retrieve another Poem in a Bottle. Aim your fishing rod at the golden ripples with sparkles at the bottom of the cave to get it and return it to Alice.
Where’s the Jabberwock in the “house of bark” in the “wooded yard”?

The Jabberwock is hiding inside a log in the northwest corner of the Forest of Valor. Teleport to the FOV’s well and make your way to the northwest region of this area, right next to the bridge that leads tot he Frosted Heights.
Here, look for a hollow log with two yellow eyes inside – that’s your Jabberwock.
Craft Wonderland Candles

To craft Wonderland Candles and lure the Jabberwock out, you’ll need the following resources:
- Tinkering Parts: Crafted using Iron Ingots.
- Glass: Crafted using Sand and Coal.
- Coal Ore: Obtained from mining nodes.
- Red Bell Flower: Foraged in the Forest of Valor.
- Yellow Daisies: Foraged in the Peaceful Meadow.
Once crafted, take your candles to the Jabberwock’s log and place it nearby. Then, approach the log from one of its sides to retrieve the Kaleidoscope. Return it to Alice to complete Mimsy Were the Borogoves.
Level 7 Friendship quest: The Fractured Glass
Alice’s level 7 friendship quest is pretty fun, yet straightforward when it comes to completing it. To unlock it, you must first complete all of Remy’s friendship quests. Make sure you do that first.

After speaking with Alice, you realize she’s in a strange behaviour. Have a word with the villagers who spoke to her recently: Ursula, Olaf, and Scrooge McDuck. Then, head back to Alice’s house.
Search for anything that could explain Alice’s behavior
Head inside Alice’s house and look to the right side, in front of the dining table. Here, you’ll find a tiny Alice inside a teapot on the floor.
Poor Alice’s feeling sad, so we must cheer her up through the power of sweet food.
Make Chocolate, Banana, and Vanilla Ice cream
Here’s a table with the ingredients you’ll need for each:
Banana Ice cream | Chocolate Ice Cream | Vanilla Ice cream |
---|---|---|
– 1 Banana: Foraged from trees in Dazzle Beach.– 1 Milk: Purchased from Remy’s pantry.– 1 Sugarcane: Purchased from Goofy’s Stall in Dazzle Beach.– 1 Slush Ice: Purchased from Remy’s pantry. | – 1 Cocoa Bean: Foraged from Glade of Trust trees.– 1 Milk: Purchased from Remy’s pantry.– 1 Sugarcane: Purchased from Goofy’s Stall in Dazzle Beach.– 1 Slush Ice: Purchased from Remy’s pantry. | – 1 Vanilla: Harvested in the Sunlit Plateau.– 1 Milk: Purchased from Remy’s pantry.– 1 Sugarcane: Purchased from Goofy’s Stall in Dazzle Beach.– 1 Slush Ice: Purchased from Remy’s pantry |
Clean Scrooge McDuck’s store

Unfortunately, ice cream won’t be enough. It’s time to visit Scrooge McDuck at his store. There, you’ll overhear an unpleasant conversation between him and Donald. Once it’s over, clean the store and speak to Merlin for advice.
Merlin will suggest collecting 4 Red Flowers, 5 Blue Flowers, and 6 Yellow Flowers. The specific types don’t matter – just gather whichever are most convenient.

Return to Alice’s home and wait for her conversation with the visitors to conclude. Then, give her the flowers to complete The Fractured Glass.
Level 10 Friendship quest: A Very Merry Unbirthday
You can unlock Alice’s Friendship 10 quest by unlocking Timon, Pumbaa, and Wall-E, as well as opening up the Forgotten Lands. The hidden requirement is a letter Merlin sends to your mail, so check for a new mail icon/quest icon popping out of your mailbox to start it.
Cook cake layers

In her last friendship quest, Alice wants to celebrate a happy unbirtday by baking a silly cake. You’ll have to speak to Remy to cook some layers.
Banana Cake layer recipe | Blueberry Cake layer recipe | Raspberry Cake Layer ecipe |
---|---|---|
1 Banana: Obtained in Dazzle Beach.1 Milk: Bought from Remy’s pantry.1 Wheat: Bought from Goofy’s Stall.1 Egg: Bought from Remy’s pantry. | 1 Blueberry: Obtained in Dazzle Beach and Forest of Valor.1 Milk: Bought from Remy’s pantry.1 Wheat: Bought from Goofy’s Stall.1 Egg: Bought from Remy’s pantry. | 1 Raspberry: Obtained in The Plaza and Peaceful Meadow.1 Milk: Bought from Remy’s pantry.1 Wheat: Bought from Goofy’s Stall.1 Egg: Bought from Remy’s pantry. |
Once you’ve cooked them all, bring them back to Alice.
Who’s “a fiery villager with knowledge of candles”?

The character this line is referring to is Mushu. Locate him on the map and ask him for ideas to decorate the Unbirthday cake.
Who is “a sweet-toothed villager with a love of candies”?

The character this line is referring to is Vanellope. Locate her on the map and ask her for ideas to decorate the Unbirthday cake.
Then, have a word with Pumba, Anna, and Goofy to get the rest of the ingredients.
Craft the Unbirthday Party Candles

At this point, you’ll need to gather some flowers to craft the Unbirthday party candles.
- 4 Passion Lily: Foraged in the Frosted Heights.
- 5 Red Nastrium: Foraged in the Forgotten Lands.
- 7 Green Passion Lily: Foraged in the Frosted Heights.
- 12 Coal Ore: Obtained from mining nodes.
Bring everything to Alice’s house to begin assembling the cake.
Make the Unbirthday cake

Follow these steps to Assemble the cake:
- Grab the Raspberry, Blueberry, and Banana layers and place them on the right-side end of the table.
- Next, place the Unbirthday Cake Icing, the Unbirthday Cake Sprinkles, and the Unbirthday Cake Lollipops.
- After that, place Pumbaa’s Ceramic Plate, the Silly Fishing Lure, and the Unbirthday Miniature Tracks.
- The next step is to place the Unbirthday Party Candles.
- Finally, place the Kaleidoscope.
Search for clues

After the Unbirthday cake goes missing, look on the floor next to the table to find the Cheshire Cat’s Ransom Note. Read it, speak with WALL-E, and grow the Cactus Flower he gives you.

The last step is to confront the Cheshire cat in the Dream Castle and celebrate with all the villagers involved.
