Just when you thought Sanctuary might give you five minutes to breathe, Blizzard slaps down a Diablo 4 roadmap hotter than the Burning Hells.
Diablo 4 isn’t done chewing you up and spitting you out, and 2025 is looking extra spicy. We’ve got new powers, pets, quests, quality-of-life updates, and two mysterious IP collaborations that are probably going to break the internet.
If you thought Mephisto was done being a nuisance, guess again. Whether you’re here for the gear grind, the lore drip, or just to collect increasingly weird pets, buckle up – this year’s a hell ride.

January to April: Season of Witchcraft
The year kicked off with the Season of Witchcraft, where you tapped into sinister Witchcraft Powers and built up your reputation (finally, one that matters).
There was a new Headhunts activity to keep your hands bloody and your map full, as well as mysterious Occult Gems.
Your reward for sticking with it was an earnable Raven pet to perch ominously on your shoulder while you wreak havoc. Behind the scenes, Blizzard’s rolled out some long-requested permanent updates including a New Armory and a Whispers QoL update – so less time in menus, more time throwing fireballs.
April to July: Belial’s return
The middle of the year sees the return of the Lord of Lies himself in Belial’s Return.
This season brings Boss Powers and a fresh Reputation Board, with an added Apparition Incursion activity that sounds like it’ll mess with your reality – because of course it does.
The pet this time is a Feline companion, perfect for giving you judgmental stares while you get one-shot by elites. This season also celebrates the game’s 2-Year Anniversary, and just to spice things up, a new IP collaboration will drop – though Blizzard’s keeping it hush-hush for now. Permanent content includes new Lair Bosses, Reliquaries, and a much-needed Season Journey update.
July to September: Sins of the Horadrim
Some cryptic ancient chaos is coming in Sins of the Horadrim. This season introduces Horadric Powers and – you guessed it – another Reputation grind.
The big new mechanic here is Dungeon Escalation, letting you amp up Nightmare Dungeons as you go deeper and darker. There’s another mysterious earnable pet on the table, and console players will finally get keyboard and mouse support, which should make demon-slaying a lot smoother. Also expect new Nightmare Dungeon activities that take things up a notch (or ten).
September to December: Infernal Chaos
The year closes with a bang – and a lot of brimstone – with Infernal Chaos.
Diablo 4 will introduce Chaos Powers, yet another Reputation Board, and a major Infernal Hordes update that introduces more player choice and complexity between waves.
Expect things to get messier, faster. There’s also another earnable pet (yes, we’re collecting them like Pokémon at this point) and the second IP collaboration of the year, details still under wraps. It’s a strong finish, and a perfect way to lose sleep over your gear again.
2026: Expansion, rankings & leaderboards
Looking beyond the chaos of 2025, 2026 is set to bring a new expansion, an all-new ranking system, and leaderboards. Whether you’re the kind of player who min-maxes every stat or just wants bragging rights, this next evolution promises to shake up the endgame in a big way.
Whatever’s coming, it’s clear Blizzard is far from done with Sanctuary – and neither are we. If you want to read more about Mother’s Blessing and what D4 could borrow from Last Epoch.
