The Superblack shader was first available as the final reward for completing all of the quests in Into The Light. However, it was later removed from the game once the event ended with the arrival of The Final Shape.
Thankfully, it has now returned, and Guardians who previously missed out on the stylish shader can unlock it by partaking in Festival of the Lost 2024. Here’s how to get the Superblack shader in Destiny 2 before the event ends to make sure you don’t miss out again.
How to unlock the Superblack shader
The Superblack shader can be unlocked during Festival of the Lost 2024 by completing the Ghost Writer event challenge.
This challenge requires you to complete all 15 other event challenges available in this year’s Halloween event, with these tasking you to engage and overcome various aspects of FOTL.

All Ghost Writer event challenges
There are 16 event challenges that you will need to work through in order to unlock the Superblack shader and all of the other rewards available in Festival of the Lost 2024. These can be accessed after completing Cryptozoologist as part of the event’s tutorial, given by Eva Levante in the Tower.

All Ghost Writer event challenge rewards
You will receive all kinds of unique rewards for completing the event challenges in Festival of the Lost 2024. These range from rare currency to unique cosmetics and weapon rolls, as well as an Event Ticket for finishing each of them, which can then be used to unlock extra items on the Upgraded Event Card.
