Destiny 2 Year of Prophecy leak reveals Star Wars-themed weapons

Leaked art for Destiny 2‘s next major content update has revealed some brand new weapons with a subtle Star Wars-themed design.

Destiny 2’s Year of Prophecy, encompassing two expansions, Edge of Fate and another codenamed Behemoth, is expected to kick off shortly after Episode Heresy ends on July 15, 2025.

Bungie’s set to pull back the curtain on Edge of Fate with a reveal stream on May 6, but Sony’s PlayStation Store has let some of its contents slip ahead of time.

Is that Han Solo’s DL-44 Blaster?

Two weapons shown in the Year of Prophecy leak take inspiration from iconic Star Wars designs.

The first, a Sidearm or Hand Cannon wielded by a Hunter, mimics Han Solo’s DL-44 Blaster. The second, brandished by a Warlock in the background, is unmistakably reminiscent of a Lightsaber.

While designs for both aren’t directly lifted from Star Wars like Fortnite’s Galactic Battle, the similarities are more than just coincidental.

It’s worth noting that Destiny 2 already has an official Star Wars collaboration, released on February 4, 2025, that included paid-for armor Ornaments, ships, and vehicles.

These weapons could be a continuation of the collaboration or just be designs based on the franchise, rather than officially licensed by Disney.

As both IPs lean into space fantasy, Destiny 2 already has its fair share of gear that riffs on a Galaxy far, far away.

Sturm, an Exotic Hand Cannon, already bears a resemblance to Han’s Blaster. It, and the Warlock’s Lightsaber-looking sword, could be Ornaments (weapon skins) rather than standalone weapons.
