Destiny 2 players celebrate “Huge win” after Bungie reveals Exotic Glaives fate

The three Exotic Class Glaives being used in Destiny 2.

Bungie has confirmed that the Destiny 2 Exotic Glaives and Class Swords will remain available to all classes, canceling their original plan to fix the bug that first appeared in Episode Heresy.

With the launch of this episode, the class restriction applied to specific weapons was accidentally removed, allowing anyone to use anything. Initially, Bungie was quick to announce plans to fix this, but the developer has now backtracked and has no intention of doing so.

Confirming as such, they shared in the February 20 TWID, “After some discussions between team members, we’ve arrived at a new decision: we’re going to let this ride. A fun example of a bug becoming a feature.”

This means that the following weapons no longer have a class lockout and can be used freely on either Hunter, Titan, or Warlock:

  • Edge of Action
  • Edge of Concurrence
  • Edge of Intent
  • Crown-Splitter
  • Death’s Razor
  • Eternity’s Edge
  • Goldtusk
  • Quickfang
  • Throne-Cleaver

Some of the Class Swords can be crafted in The Enclave if you have the pattern unlocked.

As for how to get these weapons, the three Exotic Glaives are purchased in The Enclave after completing the ‘Report: REVERSE-LURE’ quest, and the Class Swords are either sold by Xur every weekend or you can craft them if you unlocked their patterns back in Season of Defiance.

Fans praise Bungie for removing Class Swords restriction

This decision has gone down extremely well, with the Destiny 2 community heaping praise onto Bungie for removing the restrictions on these nine weapons.

Responding to a Reddit post confirming this news, one of the most upvoted comments expressed, “Love everything about it,” while another called it a “Huge win.”

The praise continued throughout the thread, with a delighted Guardian replying, “Big win! Thank you Bungie! This unlocks interesting builds.”

Speaking of builds, the most upvoted comment of all revealed their master plan: “Time to Karnstein Bubble while being Amplified and having Woven Mail,” showing just how much this change opens up the potential to create new and interesting loadouts.

Admittedly, none of the affected weapons are meta, but the Exotic Glaives are performing well following buffs in Episode Heresy. This saw them ascend our Exotic Tier List, with Edge of Action becoming A-tier for the first time ever. Likewise, the Swords aren’t perfect, but they are good options that can be a lot of fun to use.
