Busted Destiny 2 Voidsplosion Warlock build completely trivializes Episode Heresy

Episode Heresy‘s focus on buffing Destiny 2’s Arc subclasses was much-needed but, for Warlocks, at least, it’s the new tools provided to Void that’s pushed the game’s resident space wizards to levels beyond busted.

Especially in Heresy’s Nether seasonal activity, where automatic healing is disabled, Warlock’s on-demand access to Devour is too powerful to ignore, but worry not, this isn’t just a defensive build – power aplenty is on the cards here.

The addition of new Void perks and huge improvements to existing subclass verbs in Heresy combine to transform your Warlock into a god amongst Guardians in PvE.

Warlock Voidsplosion build – Infinite Volatile & Weaken

Just two pieces of gear are integral to making this build work. One of these, the Exotic Briarbinds gauntlets, is easy enough to obtain, either by farming Legendary Lost Sectors or by ranking up with Rahool.

The second piece of kit, on the other hand, will require some luck and time investment in Trials of Osiris. What you’re looking for here is a roll of reprised Hand Cannon Exalted Truth with Destabilizing Rounds and Demoralize. Here’s what both perks do.

• Destabilizing Rounds: Defeating a target creates a Void burst; hitting other targets with this burst makes them volatile and grants you Volatile Rounds for a short duration.
• Demoralize: Precision final blows cause nearby targets to become Weakened.

With just these two items, you’ll be able to mass inflict Volatile and Weaken on entire rooms of enemies. For your heavy weapon, anything Void will suffice, but we’d recommend either a crafted Commemoration with Reconstruction and Killing Tally or the VS Chill Inhibitor roll available from Banshee-44.

For your primary slot, Tinasha’s Mastery with Chill Clip, obtained from Iron Banner, is a fantastic choice for its utility and damage.

While all of the above are powerful in their own right, their synergy with Warlock’s Aspects and Fragments, as well as Heresy’s Artifact Mods, elevate the build to S-tier.

Aspects & Fragments – Unbeatable survivability

For your first Aspect you’ll want Child of the Old Gods to access Void Soul. While Exalted Truth will provide Weaken by itself, the grenade and melee energy the former provides after draining enemies is invaluable for maintaining uptime on Devour, triggered on any ability kill when with Feed the Void.

Because you won’t need to use Fragments to grant any of the above effects, you’re free to use any that bolster them further. Echo of Instability will grant Volatile Rounds to your heavy weapon, while Echoes of Harvest and Reprisal will grant you lightning-fast charge times for Nova Bomb or Nova Warp.

Cap all of the above off with Echo of Expulsion and Heresy’s three Void-focused Artifact mods, and all sources of Void damage will trigger explosions on enemy kill, including your Void Soul. See below for everything you’ll want to equip:

Aspects

• Child of the Old Gods: Casting your rift creates a Void Soul that flies to and weakens enemies when damaged with your weapon. When enemies are drained, you gain grenade and melee energy (healing rift) or health (empowering rift). Defeating targets drained by a Void Soul grants class ability energy.
• Feed the Void: Defeating a target with any Void ability grants Devour (healing on any Void kill). Devour restores additional health and grenade energy.

Fragments

• Echo of Instability: Defeating targets with grenades grants Volatile Rounds to your Void weapons.
• Echo of Harvest: Defeating Weakened targets creates an Orb of Power and Void Breach.
• Echo of Reprisal: Final blows while surrounded by combatants grant Super energy.
• Echo of Expulsion: Void ability final blows cause targets to explode.

Heresy Artifact Mods

• Volatile Marksman: Rapid Void precision hits and rapid Void weapon final blows grant Volatile Rounds. BOOST: Volatile detonations grant class ability energy.
• Maligned Harvest: Rapidly applying Volatile causes your next instance of Void damage to create a weakening burst.
• Void Flux: Defeating weakened targets with a Void weapon applies Volatile to nearby targets. Powerful targets increase the radius of the explosion.
