Destiny 2’s weekly Trials of Osiris event on February 28 exposed an outlier in the looter shooter’s PvP meta that scored more kills than every other popular weapon combined.
Redrix’s Estoc is one of only two Legacy PR-55 Frame Pulse Rifles, introduced as a reward from the Competitive Crucible playlist in Episode Heresy.
Like the BxR-55 Battler, introduced as part of a 30th-anniversary pack to celebrate Bungie’s 30th birthday in 2021, Redrix’s Estoc is a riff on Halo’s Battle Rifle in design and function, boasting much higher zoom than standard Pulses.
That innate advantage, combined with a top-tier perk pool and incredible stats across the board, has seen the weapon absolutely dominate PvP.

Per DestinyTrialsReport, Redrix’s Estoc was responsible for 17% of all kills for the event’s duration between February 28 and March 4, with a total of 3,889,780 across all platforms.
Not only does that seven-figure total far outpace the second most popular choice in Outbreak Perfected (709,835) – it’s also higher than every other top 10 contender’s totals combined.
Is Redrix’s Estoc headed for a nerf?
Bungie hasn’t made any mention of a nerf yet, but based on precedent, weapons that overperform in the sandbox to this degree rarely escape some sort of intervention to curb their power.
The last time we saw anything this wild was shortly after the The Final Shape’s release in June 2024, when Khvostov 7G-0X rocketed to the top of scoreboards and Bungie nerfed the Exotic Auto Rifle not long after.
Redrix’s Estoc has already proven to be more meta-warping than Khvostov, so it stands to reason that it’s being eyed for a retune. When that would take place is anyone’s guess. Destiny 2’s next major update, Heresy Act 2, is scheduled to go live on March 11, so that’s the earliest Guardians can expect a reprieve from this monster.
