ActivisionA leak has revealed that the Black Ops 7 devs are testing a build of the game without one of Call of Duty’s most hated features.
Tactical Sprint, or Tac Sprint, has been one of the most controversial features in CoD ever since it was added in Modern Warfare (2019). It allows players to run faster for a short period by double-clicking the sprint button.
While it’s great for getting around maps quickly, many players have turned against it in recent years, arguing that it makes movement clunky and adds unnecessary steps to traverse.
It returned once again in Black Ops 6, but according to a new leak, Treyarch and Raven are testing the idea of removing it in Black Ops 7.
BO7 could finally remove Tac Sprint
Well-known leaker TheGhostOfHope, who has successfully revealed plenty of CoD information in the past, previously confirmed that the feature would be in BO7.
However, he shared a post on August 11, stating: “There’s currently a build of Black Ops 7 being tested right now that has no tac sprint. This doesn’t mean the final game won’t have it but this is a very GOOD sign.”
As he mentions, this doesn’t necessarily mean that BO7 will launch without Tactical Sprint, but it does show they’re experimenting with how the game would play without it. This could mean that there will be certain modes where the feature is disabled, or even a Perk that removes it, like Slipstream in BO6.
The devs have previously mentioned that while this year’s game won’t feature jetpacks or wall running, there will be an “evolution” of omnimovement. So, it’s possible that the removal of Tac Sprint is part of a bigger overhaul to how movement works.
Of course, this is all based on a leak for now, so we’ll have to wait and see exactly how this affects both multiplayer and Warzone going forward.
We’ll likely learn more when Black Ops 7 gets its full reveal at Gamescom 2025, before the beta follows shortly after.
