It doesn’t matter what map or mode you prefer to play in Warzone, Assault Rifles are always a great option thanks to their versatility, with the best AR loadouts often dominating the meta.
Assault Rifles are the most adaptable weapons in Call of Duty. Whether you’re shooting an enemy from 10 meters or 100 meters, they can get the job done. Their ability to perform well in most situations is a massive strength that’s exclusive to this weapon class.
The Season 5 update has shaken up the meta through a new addition and various buffs and nerfs. With that in mind, here are the best Assault Rifle loadouts and recommended builds to use in Warzone.
Best Assault Rifle loadouts in Warzone
1. Cypher 091

- Optic: Willix 3x
- Muzzle: Compensator
- Barrel: Gain-Twist Barrel
- Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
- Magazine: Extended Mag II
If you want a powerful, do-it-all Assault Rifle with consistent TTK and fast bullet velocity, then the Cypher 091 is the weapon for you in Season 5.
Although you may find it bounces around a little at extreme long-range, its close-range TTK is only beaten by the GPR 91 and FFAR 1, while killing much faster at range. With the Cypher 091 in hand, you can take almost any fight in Verdansk and Rebirth Island and know your weapon won’t let you down.
2. GPR 91

- Optic: Kepler Microflex
- Muzzle: Compensator
- Barrel: Reinforced Barrel
- Underbarrel: Commando Grip
- Magazine: Extended Mag 1
The GPR 91 got a big buff to its damage, and that’s catapulted it into the meta. While it’s extremely easy to use, what sets it apart is its close-range TTK.
It’s just beaten by the FFAR 1 until around 40 meters, but it maintains that fast TTK out to 50 meters. That, along with the fact that it has low recoil, good bullet velocity, and a large magazine size, it’s the perfect Sniper Support option in Season 5.
3. Grau 5.56

- Optic: Jason Armory 2x
- Muzzle: Ported Compensator
- Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
- Magazine: Full-Auto Extended Mag
- Fire Mods: Swat 5.56 Grau Conversion
Although technically a Marksman Rifle, the Grau 5.56 Conversion turns the Swat 5.56 into one of the best Assault Rifles in Warzone Season 5.
Not only does it kill fast, but the recoil is almost non-existent, being much easier to control than the Cypher 091 at long range. The only thing holding it back is the maximum magazine size being 50 rounds, but it’s so easy to use, you might not even notice.
4. CR-56 AMAX

- Optic: Jason Armory 2x
- Muzzle: Compensator
- Barrel: Reinforced Barrel
- Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
- Magazine: Extended Mag II
While the AMAX isn’t a close-range powerhouse, it’s extremely dominant at long range. Following buffs in Season 5, it has the best range of any Assault Rifle, as it doesn’t have a damage drop off until around 70 meters.
If you’re looking to be an absolute menace at range, then don’t look past the CR-56 AMAX – just make sure to use attachments to keep its recoil to a minimum.
5. FFAR 1

- Optic: Volzhskiy Reflex
- Muzzle: Compensator
- Underbarrel: Ranger Foregrip
- Magazine: Extended Mag II
- Rear Grip: Ergonomic Grip
There’s always a place for a powerful Sniper Support option in Warzone’s meta, and in Season 4 Reloaded, it’s the FFAR 1.
Its fast TTK makes it competitive against meta SMGs in close range, but since it’s an AR, it doesn’t have that steep damage drop-off, so it’s much more versatile. If you want something to pair with the HDR, you can’t go wrong with the FFAR 1.

Meta analysis
The Assault Rifle meta is more open than usual in Season 5. While the Cypher 091 is the perfect all-rounder, you can use any weapon in the top 5 and have a lot of success.
Want something versatile to pair with a Sniper Rifle? Use the GPR 91 or FFAR 1. Want a classic low-recoil Assault Rifle? Use the Cypher 091 or Grau 5.56 Conversion. Or, do you want something a little different with great range? Use the CR-56 AMAX.
Unfortunately, the new ABR A1 hasn’t made much of a splash in the AR category. It’s still better than MW2 and MW3 guns, but the burst-fire rifle can’t match the current meta.
That’s all for the best Assault Rifle loadouts in Warzone, but you’ll also want to know all about these meta SMG loadouts and the best Warzone loadouts to figure out what to use alongside your favorite AR.
