According to SteamCharts as of March 4, 2025, the average number of Battlefield 4 players is 1981. This is just a slight increase from February’s average number of 1,450 players who logged in daily.

During the build-up to Battlefield 2042 in October 2021, the game saw a huge boost in its all-time peak with 12,342 players enjoying the game simultaneously on Steam.
However, figures then dropped drastically with the average count dropping as low as 2,237 in November 2021, and it hasn’t regained the same level of traction since.
Playerbase compared to competitors
The Battlefield 4 player count is relatively low compared to some of its core competitors in the space – which also include other Battlefield installments.
Battlefield 2042, V, and 1 all have higher average player counts on Steam as of March 2025. 2042 is currently averaging over 6,000 daily players, while 1 and V have got over 11,000 and 15,000 respectively.
Ultimately, this means Battelfield 4’s Steam numbers are simply paling in comparison to the other entries in the franchise in 2025.
