The Battlefield 6 Open Beta has already peaked at over 18,000 players on Steam and has huge server queues, even though no one can actually play it yet.

So far, it’s safe to say that Battlefield 6 is making all the right moves. The gameplay footage shown off has fans convinced it could be a return to form for the series, and the devs have already committed to realistic skins without goofy crossovers.

The Open Beta is set to be the first opportunity for many players to get hands-on time with the shooter. Interest is clearly high too, as it’s already got thousands of players just sitting there waiting for it to start.

Thousands of players are ready & waiting for BF6 beta to open

According to SteamDB, the BF6 Open Beta has already peaked at over 18,000 players on Steam as of August 6, after preloads went live on August 4. This is extra impressive, given that the servers don’t actually go live until August 7 for early access players, or August 9 for the rest of the world.

It’s maintained a steady number of concurrents ever since the app was available to download, meaning players have the game open but aren’t playing matches. These figures only take Steam into account as well, meaning there are likely even more across other PC platforms and on consoles.

BF6 fans met with queues before beta is even live

In fact, players have now reported being met with queues when trying to log in. Streamer TheTacticalBrit shared a picture on X that showed him sat behind 23,400 users, and it was as 32,000 when we tried to access the game.

This means that you currently have to wait for quite a while just to access a beta that isn’t even fully online just yet.

But what exactly are all these players doing, then? Well, although matches are currently offline, you can still jump into the app and customize your settings, so players are likely making sure that their gameplay, mouse and keyboard, and audio settings are up to scratch before the first game.
