Assassin's Creed Shadows Post launch roadmap

Shared on the Assassin’s Creed Shadows X account, the game’s year 1 post-launch roadmap looks stacked.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any dates in regards to these updates yet, but when we do, we’ll be sure to update this article, so check back soon for any changes.

Early May

In early May, we can expect to see a new free quest named: The Works of Luis Frois. We’ll also see some QoL improvements and a Codex update.

While we have no information on The Works of Luis Frois quest, it makes sense that this will focus on Yasuke and Luis Frois. Perhaps exploring their past together, or it will focus on a quest where Yasuke needs Luis Frois’ help.

Late May

Late May sees a variety of QoL and Parkour changes, an update to photo mode, and a hint towards their first “special collaboration.”

There’s no word on what the collaboration is going to be, but we’ll keep you updated. As for the Parkour changes, players will soon be able to perform Height-Gaining Back Ejects and Side Ejects, as well as a new Vertical Ledge Jump.

Lastly, Photo Mode will be receiving an update, hopefully making it a little smoother and perhaps letting us put the characters in different poses. Though nothing has been revealed yet.

June

June hosts the next major story drop, named New Ally For Your League. This one feels pretty self-explanatory; you’ll likely receive a new ally to help join the league, who knows, maybe you’ll be able to romance them.

Then we’ll be receiving a new difficulty setting after player complaints, alongside more gameplay immersion options. On top of this, a new open world alarm system will be activated, so you’ll need to be careful when exploring. Lastly, players will be able to toggle their headgear while in cutscenes.

Upcoming

While there’s no release window, players can expect a New Game +, community feedback updates, plenty of new story drops, more collaborations, updated to the Codex, and fresh Animus content. Players can also look forward to plenty of new rewards.

If you’re looking to drop some cash, then there will be more paid content coming soon. Store Drops will be arriving, and the Claws of Awaji expansion — the latter will be free if you preordered the game.

Claws of Awaji expansion

The Island of Awaji is calling to Yasuke and Naoe.

The first real DLC for AC Shadows is the Claws of Awaji expansion, which you can get completely free as a pre-order bonus. It doesn’t matter which edition you buy, the expansion is included in all of them. We don’t have a release date yet, but we do know it’ll be released “later in 2025.”

This expansion is set to provide “over 10 hours of gameplay” and take players to a “completely new open world region.” Fit with the new Sanzoku Ippa faction, we’ll be facing off against new enemy types, but doing so with the new Bō weapon for Naoe.

Our dual protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe, are being “relentlessly hunted” by the time this expansion kicks off, so expect plenty of high-octane fights across the island of Awaji. In an interview with GameRant, the creative producer Jonathan Dumont said Awaji is “a bit spookier” than mainland Japan and takes place after the main game.

Will there be a second expansion?

Given the likes of AC Valhalla had multiple expansions throughout its lifespan, can fans expect the same for AC Shadows? Well, there isn’t a Season Pass this time around, and Ubisoft hasn’t announced any major plans.

In the GameRant interview, associate game director Simon Lemay-Comtois said that beyond the DLC, “and a few special events and additional content we have on the calendar, our plan is to listen to and support our community as best as we can, with quality-of-life updates, gameplay tweaks and additional options.”
