  • DarkZero emerge victorious in Game 9 to take home ALGS Championship 2022
  • FURIA fall short despite four chances at match point
  • TSM, OpTic Gaming fail to make match point in final

It’s been a long time coming for Apex Legends esports, but the big LANs are back. Having been put on hold due to the global health crisis, the dream is finally being realized with first the Split 2 playoffs in Stockholm and now the ALGS Championship 2022.

40 of the world’s best teams — definitively — have descended on Raleigh, USA to determine the one true global champion of Apex Legends. After an APAC South upset saw Reignite (now DarkZero) claim the Stockholm crown without star Genburten, truly anything was possible at this big affair.

For that aforementioned team too, the back-to-back dream was achieved. DarkZero started off the final day slow but turned up when it mattered, making match point in Game 8 and quickly converting with a win on Storm Point in Game 9.

It was heartbreak for some — FURIA failed to convert on four match points after dominating the lobby early on. 100 Thieves, Fnatic, and Spacestation (who came second in the final game) fell painfully close. Crowd favorites TSM and OpTic struggled big time though, not making match point before the end.
