
A Devil May Cry anime is on the way and will be available on Netflix, so here is everything we know so far about the video game adaptation.
Devil May Cry has served as one of Capcom’s biggest successes, where the action-packed devil-hunting game was first released in 2001. It has since become a classic franchise that is beloved by fans.
Fans have not experienced a new Devil May Cry animated series since 2007, however, in 2018 the producer of Netflix’s acclaimed Castlevania anime, Adi Shankar, revealed that a Devil May Cry animated series was officially in production with the streaming service.
Studio Mir is in charge of the animation for the series, having previously worked on various highly regarded shows, such as My Adventures with Superman and The Legend of Korra.

Release date
Netflix’s Devil May Cry anime series will release on the platform April 3, 2025.
As expected from Netflix, all eight episodes of the first season will drop on this date to you’ll be able to binge them all in one sitting if you so choose and has been developed in partnership with Capcom
Plot details
The Devil May Cry anime will be set in between the first and second Devil May Cry video games, fill in the gap between the ending of the first title and the beginning of the 2003 sequel.
With the series simply titled: ‘Devil May Cry’ and only these brief details to work off so far, the anime plot has yet to be revealed with a full synopsis of the overall story and what to expect.
Trailers
Fans were treated to a first official first look at the anime with a short announcement trailer at Netflix’s DROP 01 showcase event. The short animated sequence shows Dante doing a back flip as he fires his dual pistols and can be heard shouting “Woohoo!”
A second and more details trailer was release at the end of 2024, showcasing some high-octane combat, returning characters and much more.
Based off this showing, the anime is shaping up to include plenty of Easter eggs and references fans of the video games are sure to enjoy.
On February, 2025, Netflix also dropped new footage for the anime series, this trailer lacking in plot details but exuding visual creativity, color and sporting a rocking soundtrack as well.
